Bad blogger!

Ooh I’m a bad blogger! It’s been weeks since my last post. (Religious reference unintentional.)

So, what have I been up to?

Well, I’ve been very busy with work, which has been fantastic because until recently I was finding it pretty impossible to apply myself in a rabbit in headlights kind of way. Perhaps now some bills will get paid! The possibility of bankruptcy is still real though and I’ve been writing letters and making phone calls, continuing my efforts to sort it out. Whatever. I really don’t give a shit. You can’t see me but I’m smiling.

Most of all, I’ve been enjoying good mental health! Yippee! Thank you Prozac.

On the blog front, whilst I haven’t been posting or commenting I have been reading. I’ve also written two posts – one about my relationship with my ex and the other is “my story” for Equality is Always Right. Still have to do some fiddling with those, but hope to post them soon.

I haven’t drafted the next instalment of my latest Talking Dirty escapade as yet but I have been getting lots of inspiration. Ahem.

In short - life is good. Didn’t I tell you everything was going to be alright?!

What a week!

Last Sunday, my girlfriend managed, finally, to persuade me that a drive to the coast was in order. I’m so glad she did. The weather here has been quite grey and wet for the last few weeks but last Sunday was gloriously sunny and therefore had to be taken advantage of. It was so good to feel the winter sun on my face. Thanks, girlfriend.

Then of course, the election in the States. I was SO happy that Obama was elected and then crestfallen that MILLIONS of people were successful in voting to deny (marriage) equality. I read and read and read accounts of that loss and the sadness that effects us all. More recently, I’ve been reading about the many protests at this outrage happening across the States and I’m wishing I could be there and add my voice. But I’m determined to do what I can here in the UK, where we have Civil Partnerships, not the right to marry. I was really happy to see THIS and hope that the blog will be hugely successful in gathering our stories.

Mid week I went along to see my GP who very kindly listened to my woes and gave me the prescription that I needed. Lovely. So, with a little help from my friend Prozac I’ll be getting through the next few months and coming out the other side. Thanks very muchly GP.

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of performing an ever so slightly improved version of my piece The Best Laid Plans at the gorgeous Drill Hall Theatre! Wow! The performance was the end result of Talking Dirty, the lesbian erotic writing workshop that I’ve been enjoying for the last 6 weeks. All of my co-performers were completely fabulous and I didn’t do too badly myself. It was a great night and one I won’t forget.

Apart from that, this week has involved work, numerous phone calls from various credit card companies (whatever - read my letters before you phone me Call Centre people), seeing some family & friends, and my ex, a visit to Asda (reduced circumstances don’t you know) and several wonderful evenings with my too delicious girlfriend.

My feeling tonight as I write this is: Everything's going to be alright.

Positive thoughts

Judging from news reports so far, it seems that Obama is very likely to succeed in his presidential campaign. What good news for America and the world! So sending positive thoughts to the US to deliver on this and marriage equality. It feels like a historic moment even on this side of the pond.
