Down but not out

Over the last 3 weeks I’ve been busy dealing with my financial ditch and haven’t had much time, or the heart really, to post anything. (I’ve mostly kept up with my reader though and there’s been SO much great writing – sorry for not commenting.)

In a nutshell, shortly I’ll be filing for bankruptcy and leaving my home. Temporarily, until I can sort out a place of my own, I’ll be staying half the week with my Boo and the other half in X’s spare room. I won’t go in to the reasons behind these arrangements right now – another time.

Despite my bravado, the reality of my situation floored me this past week. On the upside, I'm bouncing back and starting to feel (again) that actually, it's not the end of the world but a chance to start over and embrace a new chapter in my life. Everyone around me has given me so much love and support and I'm remembering to count my privileges and blessings.

Once the shit settles, I'll have much more time for blogging, so expect to hear lots from me in the future!

I'm down but not out.

PS I just looked up QR in the dictionary and it says "feisty, unbeatable femme" - that's me!!

No! A Weeble is not a fattie QR a Weeble is an egg that doesn't fall down! (Honestly!)

QR,

How lucky of you to be loved, and so well, and to know it, especially in this time of great stress, upheaval, and change.

And I do love it that the first two comments are BB's, and the second one follows the first by a scant 8 minutes. And a weeble is an egg that defies expectations and doesn't fall down.

Reading this interchange is interesting as I have recently passed another hurdle and given M my blog address (I usually cut and paste for her). I am wondering if she will post comments like the very delightful and clearly smitten BB does on yours, and how prepared I should be!

All my good wishes to you Rose. Embrace the change! I think this is the year we all learn this.

And one other thing, what you, and many other individuals, are experiencing personally, bankruptcy, is the very small, tiny scale of what is happening globally. And that collapse was jiggered by all the supposedly financially brilliant sorts who have the papers and the pay to have known better. You got swept up (as have so many other millions) into a pattern and a trend in a global culture; so we dust ourselves off, globally and individually, and start again. There is no shame in this, just something we must all face plainly, and do. Hopefully, with those who love us and whom we love.

Again, all my best to you.

ouch... I'm sorry darlin. That's gotta be really tough.

Sounds like you are doing whatever it is you need to do to get back up though.

That's what's important.

Hi QR,

I applaud you. I don't know exactly what this entails in the UK. But based on what I know from a friend whose business venture brought her to the financial brink, I think there is courage in either declaring or not declaring bankruptcy--both present difficulties and challenges. In our little blogging community, we're quick to recognize the bravery of those who reveal intimate details about their sexual desires/experiences, but I think that sharing this part of your life is just as brave. I look forward to reading more as you embark on this new chapter in your life.

Sending lots of femme love!

How bloody rude of me! When I came back to blogland this is the very first place I should have stopped and said something. It's not about manners it's about being VERY thankful for all of your thoughts and kind words - I really do appreciate it very much. QRx
